Victorian Extravaganza!

Our November meeting was a vey busy one.  First of all we had a sales table, well several actually.  Chris from Bloodwise had been given a lot of Christmas fabrics and asked if she could sell it at the meeting.  We could have insisted that she followed the rules and priced everything up for the sales table, but we're much more generous than that.  She had her own table and was able to price things as she went along - much easier for all.  

Then we had our Victorian kits.  We had made up kits for everyone with a Victorian theme.  There was a red work Christmas card, a candle wicked pin cushion, a paper pieced tree ornament and a sampler book cover.  Unfortunately I was so busy with my table that I completely forgot to take photos, but they were all very popular - except the red work Christmas card, which had been organised by me!  Oh well, you can't please everyone! 

And then there was the block of the month. Debbie and Jacquie revealed the last two blocks.  We're having a competition at the March meeting with cash prizes!  You just have to present all twelve blocks in a quilt at the March meeting and the members will vote for the best one on that day.   I can't wait to see them all.  

Then we had the speaker, Letty Lovage.  Well, it was Janet and her husband Pat, actually, speaking about Victorian dress.

And here is our very own Jacquie dressed as a lady in 1860.  I don't know how she hasn't fainted, as she has three huge petticoats and a crinoline under that skirt, and the bulk and the weight must have been quite uncomfortable.  We all enjoyed the talk, and learned many interesting facts and anecdotes 

about our Victorian forbears.
